It is always exciting to know that your team is going to the Big East Tournament to represent their University and play college basketball. Last year when the Bearcats went to the Big East Tournament they were given brand new uniforms to wear by Adidas. These uniforms were in black, white, and red. The uniforms were very different from what fans were used to seeing on the court, but they were something new and people enjoyed seeing them.
Pictures of the Bearcat’s new jerseys were released today that they will be wearing at the tournament in March. The Bearcats were one of six teams to receive the new Adidas Adizero jerseys. To be one of six teams to have the opportunity to wear the new uniforms is amazing for the Bearcats, but many people think that the uniforms are not very attractive. The new uniforms are very defined zebra stripes with neon orange/red. We received the uniforms in black and white this year, the white looking a little more conservative than the black. The pictures of the uniforms flooded Facebook with all kinds of comments and likes. Many people think the uniforms are ugly and very distracting; I think we got a better deal on our uniforms than Notre Dame did. They are sporting a full neon green uniform looking more distracting and ridiculous than ours.
The posing question is: will people want to watch the Bearcats at the tournament? Or will the uniform pose as a distraction and take away from the Bearcats game? Let’s hope that no matter what, students, alumni, and fans will still support the Bearcats even if they are not huge fans of the new uniforms. Best of luck at the tournament Bearcats!
